Research Interests

  • In general I'm interested in unconventional computing, i.e. unusal methods for doing calculations. In particular I'm working in the field of bio-inspired and chemical computing as well as on the foundations of emergent computing. The corresponding projects are

  • Artificial chemistry, chemical organisation theory and its application to chemical and organic computing, see the project DFG SPP 1183 Organic Computing.
  • Artificial neural networks with the help of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction, see the project NeuNeu.

  • Some other topics of my supervisor Peter Dittrich's group are computational systems biology, bioinformatics, systems analysis and optimization, artificial chemistry and network theory.
